Volunteer in Bali is a genuine non-profit organization (Yayasan Widya Sari) run entirely by Balinese people for the unprivileged children of the Tianyar, Seraya, Ubud and Tabanan regions.

We have 5 volunteering programs located in different locations in Bali , Indonesia to select from: Program by the Sea is located in Tianyar (North-East Bali) and Seraya (East Bali) traditional fishing villages, Program Ubud Village is located in Ubud (Central Bali), Program Special Needs is located 5kms from Ubud (Central Bali) and Program in the Hills is in the Tabanan region (West Bali), Indonesia.

Your time spent at in one of our four Volunteering programs will aid the children in their learning and confidence in areas such as English, Computers, Sport, Music and Arts. At our five programs you will always remain a precious member of our extended Balinese family.

Incredible experience

I volunteered at programme by the sea in Tianyar for 2 months in 2016. The organisation and the work you have the opportunity to take part in is worthwhile, rewarding and fun. I made friends for life , travelled on the weekends and gained lots of experience working with children and gained lots of transferable skills.

An amazing volunteer program

I spent 5 weeks at Seraya last summer and can safely say it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done! I don’t have a bad word to say about the program & it’s one of the few where the money you pay goes directly to benefitting the school. Both the family and the children were the kindest, happiest and accommodating people I’ve ever met. The children are so willing to learn that it made teaching them so enjoyable and I made good friends with the other volunteers so after class we would all hang out and on the weekends we explored other parts of Bali! If you are considering volunteering 100% do it- you won’t regret it! Seraya has a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to go back!

Unforgettable experience

I volunteered in Yayasan Widya Sari (Program by the Sea) in Tianyar for three months in 2016. It was my first time travelling and doing a volunteering program so I was a little bit nervous but as soon as I arrived the staff and other volunteers in Yayasan made me feel so welcome.

The school is an amazing place with such happy and colourful vibes. The students are wonderful and so eager to learn, no matter what the age. They live close to the school so you even see them even outside school hours and you grow very fond of them all.

The teaching facilities, accommodation, activities and meals are very well organised. I taught English to the children and adults Monday to Thursday, and travelled around Bali on the weekends with the other volunteers. I am still in contact with many of the volunteers, some of whom I would consider my close friends (even if we don’t live in the same country).

I would highly recommend the programme to everyone. Volunteer for at least 1 month to get the real feel of the place. It is a life changing experience and I would do it again a thousand times! I will be forever grateful to Yayasan and its students for bringing so many happy memories and for showing me the beauty of Bali.

Best time of my life

I had the honor to stay in Tianyar for a month and I cannot lie - this month was the best one of my life so far! I’d absolutely recommend anyone who considers to join yayasan to do it at least for a month, if not even longer!! While working with these incredibly beautiful, loving kids, while being surrounded by incredible beautiful souls from all over the world, while discovering Bali’s most beautiful places at the weekend, time goes by so fast.. it’ll for sure be an experience that you’ll never regret, it gave me so many important lessons and I’ll keep Yayasan and this wonderful time forever in my heart! :)

Best experience I ever had!

I spent my last summer in Seraya (5weeks) and I never wanted to leave! The family was so welcoming, kind and lovely, they all made sure that you feel comfortable from the very first second. The kids were the most cheerful, happy und kind human beings I have ever had the chance to meet! I was a little bit nervous before my first class but this feeling disappeared the moment I looked into their kind eyes. All in all I can only say, that these 5 weeks were really amazing and will always have a special place in my heart. This was definitely not my last visit to Bali! Also I was very lucky to have had the chance to share this experience with some other volunteers, that have made my stay even more special! I am very thankful that I got to volunteer in Seraya, with Volunteer in Bali :)

Volunteering in Seraya

I volunteered one month in Seraya and it was so much better than I have ever imagined. The kids were so lovely and the family are one of the kindest people I've met. I also made some friendships for life with some other volunteers. It was very hard to leave his place. Can't wait to go back.

It was a dream!

I volunteered in Tianyar for 6 weeks summer of 2017. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I would really recommend everyone in the western world, to step out of their comfort zone and volunteer here. I was truly able to make a difference in the lives of the children and adults I taught. My volunteer experience was out of this world. With the 3 days off a week I was able to see all of Bali, and some neighboring islands. Not only was my work appreciated, but I was also able to see a part of the world. It was a no brainer.

Time of my life

I spent a month in Yayasan Widya Sari. Loved every bit of it, the vibes in that place are amazing and the experience meant so much to me. The kids are so sweet and teaching is just fun, playing and learning with them is so rewarding. Met great people and shared amazing food and adventures with them. Ketut and Leony are such selfless and warm-hearted people. I hope to see them soon

Life changing experience!!

I volunteered at the Ubud project for 4 months and it has been a life changing experience. We have been able to teach the children many different things and they have also taught us a lot too! The children are aged from 5-15 and are so eager to learn. We also got to take part in a few local events which made us feel part of the community. All of the staff at the Ubud project are so welcoming and lovely it has made our experience extra special. I would definitely recommend volunteering with this organisation!
