Willoway is located north of Pontiac Trail on Old Plank Road. On these 16 acres, we offer the best summer ever for our campers, boys and girls ages 5 to 14, many of whom are second generation Willoway families.
Choosing the right camp is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Since 1969, Willoway Day Camp has provided summer experiences to last a lifetime.
From our two swimming pools, built especially for children, to our pond & lakesite, our animal farm, nature trail, low ropes-initiative challenge course, “ga-ga-ga” courts, athletic fields, tennis courts, go-kart track, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, archery range and more, Willoway is the place to be.
Indoor facilities complement our comprehensive outdoor campus and include arts and crafts, photography, gym, climbing wall, dining hall, arena, indoor sports and activity areas, performing arts facilities, photography labs – both digital and traditional, along with lots of places to discover, explore and have fun.
Our program, with fantastic facilities, mature staff and varied activities, is designed with fun and excitement in mind, while giving your child the ingredients for new dimensions of personal growth and creativity. Each summer caring, creative and enthusiastic individuals come to Willoway from all over the world. With more than 70 college age counselors from Metro Detroit and the United Kingdom, Willoway counselors, waterfront and specialty staffs combine to create the best summer ever.

Our team is selected for its warmth, maturity, ability, and enthusiasm. Counselors come from all educational backgrounds (camp jobs are not just for education majors). We hold extensive pre-camp training sessions to acquaint you with Willoway’s philosophy and our concern for campers. We are proud that each year we have a strong team of retuning and new staff, including counselors who were once campers themselves.
I have just finished my first year working as a counsellor for 5th/6th grade Explorer boys, and I hope to God it is not my last year. I had no idea what to expect of the people, the camp, the work, or even the young campers I'd be working with... but I feel so foolish at the panic I felt when I arrived on Day 1. Everything was perfect, everyone was welcoming and friendly, and the work experience... UNBELIEVABLE! As a 5-day-week camp, I count myself very lucky to have my evenings and weekends free to enjoy time with fellow counsellors and my host family; not many camps offer this luxury. It helped us become closer almost as a Willoway family and I cherish every memory for it.
Don't even get me started on the campers... each and every child, boy, girl, younger, older, you name it. I thank God every day that I had the chance to work with them. From the impressions of meeting them on the first day of the first session, to the emotional rollercoaster of the final day of the last session (this summer), I count myself among the luckiest people of my age group to be gifted this opportunity to work with these people, and the impact that I made on their lives was very much clear through the hugs, and the tears of our goodbyes. Nothing can take those cherished memories from me and I hope to God that it isn't the final goodbye.
