A wonderful experience! So many different projects to choose from and incredible to work with the kids and meet people from all over the world.
A fantastic trip to Cape Town learning about how people live in townships, while working with the kids living there. And at the same time making new best friends across the world. I would recommend SAVE to everyone thinking about volunteering.
I worked with SAVE foundation as an Educare intern for 8 months between 2016/2017. The work SAVE does within its local community is so important and as a result, being one of their volunteers you have the chance to do amazing things and make a real change.
I always dreamed of traveling in South Africa and I heard about a program that sends volunteers and I decided that this is what I want to do. I flew to Cape Town for a two-month volunteer. I taught English in schools and mainly did a lot of fun with the kids. They are amazing, good children, very much appreciate the work of the volunteers and especially like to enjoy their company. The work is hard but challenging and mainly teaches a lot. Cape Town is stunning and you can stroll and experience to see and travel in the free time. And especially an amazing experience
My time with SAVE was unfortunately short, but breathtaking. You meet so many amazing people within the staff and the other volunteers, the atmosphere they create is one of the things that makes me longing to go back! But the volunteering was the thing that definitely got to me. After SAVE I got a completely new look on the world, you get to see things you could have never imagined living a cozy first world life, I personally was working in Sunshine Educare (Cape Town) and Nicki who runs the school, her own little clinic and dog sanctuary is most definitely my hero. I'm longing to go back every day, it will definitely not be my last time with SAVE!
