Whilst South Africa is mainly very developed as a nation, there are areas of the country where families are still living without running water or electricity in their homes. Society has forgotten about these people, and this project aims to try to give the children of these families a greater chance in life.
Many of the kids come from poverty, and coming to school or nursery school is a great way to get some structure and some food. The kids love it, and volunteers really make it for them.
Volunteers can either help with teaching in schools, or with looking after the children in nursery schools. You can either specialise in one project, or spread your attention across both the schools and creches. Whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is that you love children and you love to make them laugh.
You will be sharing volunteer accommodation with other volunteers. There is a swimming pool, games room and even a gym on site. You will be on the outskirts of the lively city of Port Elizabeth, which is right on the coast at the end of the famed Garden Route.
Your free time will be filled with pre-arranged trips, and outings of your own making.
