Reasons to Book a Tour to South Africa

Camps Bay, Cape Town

Crime and safety is always a top priority in South Africa, you have to be extra careful in places like Johannesburg which have certain no go areas.

Traveling solo on public transport is not really recommended in South Africa and the public transport system isn't really geared towards travelers. There is also an intercity bus service in South Africa but this can be very unreliable.

For these reasons we highly recommend joining adventure tours which are a great way to travel and see as much of this beautiful country as possible.

South Africa Group Tours

There is over 3000km of coastline in South Africa which is spectacular and you will find so many trips showing you the very best locations including Cape Town.

Popular trips include coming face to face with the Big Five on safari, exploring the natural wonders of the Drakensburg Mountains, learning more about the amazing history in Isandlwana or checking out beaches.

Adventure tours in South Africa are popular all year round, you can find different itineraries where you can also go throughout the continent. You could travel overland from Cape Town all the way through Africa up to Cairo in Egypt.

Some other tours include travelling along the spectacular Garden Route and stopping off at places like the Addo Elephant National Park. You will also have an experienced guide who will be able to explain about the past history of the country, this is a great way to learn more about the struggles of people like Nelson Mandela and Hector Pieterson, these stories will really inspire you and you will really get to understand the current Rainbow Nation.

Wildlife Safaris

Etosha National Park, Namibia

If you are a wildlife enthusiast, South Africa is the place to visit. You will be able to get up close to the most awe-inspiring animals in the world including lions, elephants and rhinos.

South Africa is well-known for its population of the ‘big five’, but you can also bear witness to meerkats, whales and penguin colonies here, making for an unforgettable trip. Most tours include seeing wildlife and these tours can be booked all year round.

There are national parks located throughout the country and there are bush camps which add to the experience. Some operators offer luxury 3-14-day safaris at private luxury lodges which caters for families and groups. These offer you a truly awe-inspiring and unique personal experience of the African bush unlikely to be equalled.

Budget Tours

You can find trips for all budgets, so whether you are a backpacker or looking to take a gap year in South Africa on the cheap or if you have a bit more money to spend you will be able to find a tour to match your interests.

These types of trips are perfect if you are travelling solo and would like to meet other people and travel in a group. You will get to travel with other internationals and get taken to the best locations in the country with an experienced guide.

These adventure style tours are a really popular option due to making friends, getting day-to-day activities, hotel check-ins, selected meals, accommodation and also transport/guides included in the price.

Most companies we work with specifically cater for the 18-35 age group. Don't worry if you are slightly older, most tours accept all ages.

Group Sizes
Typical group sizes are around 10-18 travellers with an average of 12 but this can vary between the tour and operator.

With most companies you will travel overland in a private small van. For day trips and excursions sometimes you will use internal flights to allow you to see the highlights as quick as possible.

Usually travellers of the same sex will share a twin room, but there is also the option to pay a little extra and get a private room. Accommodation can vary depending on the tour and location. Some tours also include homestays or camping.
