Expect to pay more in July and August when there is the school summer holidays, sometimes flights almost double in price do avoid travelling during this period if you are on a budget.

Getting From JFK Airport to Manhattan

From JFK airport you have a number of options for travelling to Manhattan. You can catch a taxi which costs around $55 and this is a flat rate (its always good to give a $5 tip too). Please always catch the official yellow taxis in the rank outside, if someone approached you for a taxi when you are leaving departures please avoid as these will usually charge you are ridiculously high fee.

Getting a taxi might be quite expensive but its a great way to travel and see Manhattan for the first time, nothing beats travelling across one of the connecting bridges from Queens or Brooklyn and seeing the famous skyline for the first time. You can also take the airtrain and then subway, this is a cheap way to travel and costs approx $8. The journey is fairly easy, you can ask staff for advice.
