On these programs you will be given full training and information on arrival and please note you will not need any previous teaching experience to participate on these programs. You will need lots of energy, be open minded and enthusiastic though.
When joining these programs you will be teaching English at a local school, either public or private and you will be assisting local staff. Schools in Nepal are very different to those in Western countries and they usually lack staff and basic infrastructure. This is where you can play a role in helping, by volunteering as a teaching assistant you can help children learn and put a smile of their faces.
You might be helping to teach them English language basic phrases and the children will be very friendly and appreciate having you there. You could also help helping music, art or sports lessons, if you have any ideas or fun games these will be very welcomed. These placements are a lot of fun, don't expect to be under pressure sometimes you might be playing games, dancing, singing or taking the children on excursions.
Most of the time you will be working around 4 - 5 hours per day Monday to Friday meaning you have the evening and weekends free to explore and travel to see more of this country. There will be other international volunteers on these placements with you so don't worry if you are travelling by yourself - you can also apply with friends or family.
Requirements to take part and join these programs include being 17 years of age and older at the start date and you will need to be comfortable with living and working in a developing country. These are exciting opportunities to live in a different country and have a really enjoyable experience unlike anything else you might have done before.
