Working with children aged 0 - 12 years old, volunteers on this wonderful program can really improve the lives of these children who have been orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, or have been taken into care direct from the streets, or who have been abandoned in hospital after birth. They include children with disabilities who were abandoned by their parents.

The orphanage Love Volunteers works with in Bamenda houses children aged 4yrs – 18 yrs. The orphanage receives no funding from the government so relies on community help, child sponsorship and the help of volunteers. The children all attend school and the orphanage is working to teach them all how to cook, clean, garden and raise pigs and chickens to ensure they are self-sufficient as they get older and move on to having their own families.

Volunteers play an essential role in the orphanage  by giving children one on one attention which they just thrive on, and teaching them about the world.

Goals of this Project:

  • Provide essential childcare to vulnerable children in Cameroon
  • Improve the future prospects of the children in Cameroon
  • Give orphaned and impoverished children quality care, compassion and a sense of hope
  • Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both locals and international volunteers alike.
