Trip details
Day 1: Getting there & Your welcome to Spain
Land at Barcelona International airport (BCN) where you’ll be met by a member from our partners and transferred to your hotel. You’ll get the chance to meet the other interns during your orientation with fun ice breakers and some time to relax over a welcome meal! You'll also get to meet the support team who will give you some pointers about living and working in Spain and answer any questions you might have.
Day 2 - 266: Your teaching experience
Get a good night's rest after your jam packed first day in Spain - it's time to meet your new Spanish family! Your host family will pick you up or our in-country partners will arrange transport to your new home for the next 9 months. You'll spend the day together so you can get to know each other and familiarise yourself with your new surroundings. Before you know it you’ll be living like a true Mediterranean!
It's time to get ready to start teaching! As a conversation assistant you'll be working alongside the school's English teacher, helping the students improve their English skills. You’ll be working in one of the carefully selected placement schools, these range from infant right up to secondary. A regular teaching week is from Monday to Friday and you’ll be expected to deliver 25 hours of classroom teaching a week.
You'll be expected to do lesson planning and prep outside of your teaching hours. Get stuck into the teaching life and if you’ve got any talents be sure to share these with your students, you could be teaching the next football star or singing sensation! There’s a series of fun, engaging activities to do with your host family during your stay. This Family Project will help you get to know each other and improve both your language skills.
Day 267: After teaching
At the end of your teaching it’s up to you where you want your TEFL qualification to take you next. Some of our graduates have continued teaching in Spain while others have travelled to different parts of the globe – the world is your oyster!
