ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity.
We work with poor and marginalised people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it.
ActionAid is one of the world's leading development charities and is a movement of people dedicated to ending the poverty that kills 28 children every minute of every day.
Volunteers are essential in helping our work continue, raising vital funds and helping us campaign for change. If you are looking for a rewarding and life changing experience, our community challenges give you the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with local people on an ActionAid project which will have a positive and lasting impact for generations to come.
We need volunteers for our two community challenges in 2009 - building houses in Nepal and helping to construct a community centre in South Africa, and for our two challenging treks in India and Vietnam.
No experience is necessary just enthusiasm, commitment, motivation and the desire to help make a difference!
Our events last approx ten days and are a great way to share in a fantastic team spirit and meet like-minded people who care about our work and want to make a difference. The experience will leave you with memories to last a lifetime and make real and lasting difference to the communities you will be helping.
To take part we ask you to pay a registration fee of £300 and pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship target. The sponsorship will cover trip costs (including food and drink and a full construction support team) and at least 55% will be donated to ActionAid's work.
We will provide fundraising support every step of the way as well as providing you with information and updates on ActionAid's work, the project work you will be doing and how you will be helping.
