We also operate Camp Chief Ouray, a summer resident camp for kids located on the Snow Mountain Ranch property. We hire year round staff, plus hundreds of paid seasonal staff and college interns--along with volunteers--every year that want to experience the mountains and support our healthy spirit, mind, and body mission. Join us!

The YMCA of the Rockies operates two year round destination family resorts serving up to 7000 guests per night on each side of Rocky Mountain National Park: Estes Park Center located in Estes Park, CO; Snow Mountain Ranch located in Winter Park, CO. We also operate Camp Chief Ouray, a summer resident camp for kids located on the Snow Mountain Ranch property.

Apply for a season and a position that works for you; we have paid seasonal jobs as well as voluneer jobs and college internships in family programming, maintenance, food service, housekeeping, resort operations (guest services), special events, buildings & grounds, and specialty positions like lifeguards, camp nurses, and day camp counselors.

Some positions are only offered during specific times of year, like bike technicians or outdoor education instructors or nordic ski instructors. We are accepting applications for all seasons, even if you aren’t immediately available. Work/volunteer agreements are for as little as 3 weeks, and can last up to 8 months. You must be at least 18 years old to live/work at the Y.

Seasonal, hourly (based on 40 hours/week) positions include:

  • Room (housing includes internet access/heat/water--no bills!--in a dormitory building. You'll have 1-3 same gender roommates, with the number depending on the season. There is separate housing for married couples. Dormitories are generally divided by age.)
  • Board (3 tasty buffet style meals 7 days per week---YES, even on your days off!)
  • Complimentary nights at both Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch
  • YMCA of the Rockies family membership (access to all of our facilities, including our world-class Nordic Center,
located on Snow Mountain Ranch property, pools, climbing walls, art centers, etc.)
  • Other employee perks including free skiing/snowboarding/mountain biking/golf (dependent on season and resort)
at Eldora Mountain Resort, Winter Park Resort, Granby Ranch, Copper Mountain, and Steamboat
  • Pay (generally $180/week for most seasonal jobs, with positions requiring specialty or supervisory skills paying abit more)

Volunteers (mostly retirees, but not always) receive room & board plus the same perks as seasonal staff in exchange for a 24 to 28 hour (depending on season) weekly volunteer commitment. It's also a great option for people who want to experience life in the Rockies but have more time to work on photography or art projects...or train for competitive sports...or play!

We also offer a Christian faith-based, working Gap Year Program for 18-24 year olds. This is an 8 month (Sept to May) working program for seasonal staff looking for additional direction in their lives. Weekly meetings and excursions include hiking, bible studies, partnership projects off property, camping, and a deeper examination of faith and values to help guide your future. Prior to May graduation there's a week long, enhanced cultural trip to New York City and Washington, DC. There is a $1000 fee for the TREK Gap Year program, which covers materials and the trip, but you'll be able to earn it back plus more over the course of the eight months. Of course, you'll still have plenty of time to perfect your alpine & nordic skiing and snowboarding skills on the mountains during the winter!
