Based at local schools in Singburi, sport is used as a vehicle for creating opportunities to develop social, physical, mental and academic skills. As an intern, you will be expected to plan and deliver sporting sessions, train and supervise the volunteer coaching team, and introduce new sports into the curriculum aiding the continuous development. Additionally, you will work on marketing the program and managing its presence on the internet. 

Aiming to enhance the current sports provision at the school, the multi sports coaching project gives the children extra opportunities to be involved in sports. This is in addition to the current curricular provision of one hour per week. Giving more than just sports training, the aim is to improve children’s overall health, stamina, emotional well-being and to introduce lifelong skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, decision making and problem solving.

Children are also given essential healthcare instruction and lessons on equality. In short, your work at the project will help start children on a journey to success. Your role as an intern will take on the overall management of the Multi Sports Coaching Project. This will give you a chance to gain invaluable experience in many professional skills.

Itinerary

Your first week will be used to immerse you into the local culture, acclimatizing you to its customs and language. As part of this, you will also be taken on excursions to local places of interest. For a full itinerary of this week, see the Siam Culture Week program.

Largely depending on the timetable of the partner school, your detailed schedule will be arranged by you and coordinators when you are on the program. You can expect to be carrying out up to 2 training sessions during the school day, followed by an extra 2 hours of extra curricular activities from 15:30. This session is where the children have a chance to explore a wider variety of sports and be inspired. Three meals a day are included: breakfast and dinner at the accommodation and lunch at the school. In addition to the activities included in the sample schedule below, interns will also be expected to manage the online presence, leading marketing and social media publicity.
