Madagascar: PADI + Forest Conservation + Island Hopping

Company : The Leap Overseas
Duration: 6 weeks to 3 months
Approx Costs: 2000 to 3000+ £ Pound (UK)

Spend four, six or ten weeks in Madagascar and learn to dive, swim with turtles, explore remote islands, study animal populations and live among some of the world's most diverse plant life and wild animals.

This program departs three times a year and is fully immersive, taking in all the sights and experiences you'll find described on the Madagascar page with plenty of downtime for you to explore the country as you please.

Whilst we recommend the full ten weeks for a complete experience, if you want to join this program in January, April or September and fly home after six weeks (or seven, or eight...), that's no problem. Just get in touch to arrange a return date and price to suit you.

Day 1 Nosy Komba
You ‘ll arrive on the main island of Nosy Be and hop on a boat transfer to the Turtle Cove Research Centre on the Volcanic island of Nosy Komba. The centre is adjacent to a pristine white beach and directly looking over into the Lokobe Forest Reserve - little slice of heaven.

Day 2 Scuba Dive Training
For the first couple of weeks you’ll scuba train up to advanced level, all level of courses available. We aim for you to dive 5 days a week, two dives a day apart from on the days when there are afternoon theory sessions.

Day 14 Lokobe Nature Reserve
By now you should be up to scuba advanced so you can now venture out into the Lokobe Nature Reserve to assist the Oceanographic Research Institute of Madagascar with reef data collection and turtle surveys. All the time seeing the most amazing underwater world.

Day 28 Nosy Komba
Heading south to the forests of Nosy Komba, home to the black, hawk's sportive, and mouse lemurs. Here you’ll get stuck into studying and monitoring the diversity of these species to identify changes in forest populations.

Day 42 Island Hopping On A Catamaran
Hop on board a 50ft catamaran and set sail for two weeks to visit many of Madagascar’s remote islands to help with our outreach programme involving teaching English and community building.

Day 56 Lokobe Forest Reserve
This is Nosy Be’s protected area for the endangered black, grey-backed sportive lemur and mouse lemur. Here you will carry on with the research programme identifying their population, health and any threats. Perfect time to explore the island of Nosy Be.

Day 70 Nosy Be
You can either stay on to explore the rest of this amazing island at your leisure or head back home.

The Leap Overseas Madagascar: PADI + Forest Conservation + Island Hopping Reviews

I loved this trip

I was fortunate enough to be able to go on the Madagascar trip with The Leap and had a great time. I'm still in contact with lots of the participants today and I’d love to go back to to Madagascar and reunite with all the people I met. Madagascar is beautiful and this trip made me want to travel and explore more of the world.
