A Nutrition project offers volunteers the chance to gain first-hand experience in nutritional research in a developing country.

In Samoa, nearly 80% of the population aged 15+ are obese, mainly due to a poor diet consisting mostly of processed food and few fresh fruits and vegetables.

Volunteers on this project assist the NHS with outreach programmes which are carried out across three hospitals and three health clinics in Upolu. Volunteers also work in local schools, churches and youth groups to raise awareness about the importance of heathy living.

Volunteers may be involved in a number of different activities, such as conducting patient questionnaires, creating plans for a healthy lifestyle, giving exercise classes and cooking lessons, and creating health campaigns.
