Volunteering on a Medicine placement in Tanzania is an excellent way to gain experience as well as being able to help people in some of the poorest medical institutions in the developing world.

We offer a number of placements in various healthcare facilities in Tanzania, including district hospitals and smaller clinics. Volunteers can work either in Arusha, in the northern part of the country, or in the coastal city of Dar es Salaam.

Most of our placements have a number of different departments, such as general medicine, maternity, surgery and paediatrics. Volunteers can choose to focus on one speciality or rotate around departments.

As with all medical related placements your role will depend on your level of experience and skill. For unqualified volunteers, the role tends to be observational, but for those with experience and those willing to show enthusiasm and interest in the task at hand more practical opportunities may arise.

We also welcome professionally qualified doctors for volunteering placements in Tanzania. This placement allows you to put your skills and expertise to the best use through assisting with the treatment of patients as well as exchanging knowledge and ideas with the local staff.

Projects Abroad Medicine Volunteering in Tanzania Reviews

Good program

I joined this public health program in Tanzania for two weeks. My volunteer advisor helped me with everything especially as English isn't my first language. The decision to go and do medical volunteer work in Tanzania with Projects Abroad was right for me.
