As a volunteer on one of our Medicine projects you will have the opportunity to work alongside medical staff in developing countries.
Whether you're a university hopeful, studying for a degree in medicine, or a qualified medical practitioner we can find an overseas placement in Medicine to suit your experience and interests.
Volunteering on a Medicine project in a developing country is a fantastic and rewarding experience and is also a great addition to your CV or university application.
The role of volunteers varies by the destination, but is adjusted to your previous experience. Pre-university volunteers help out in simple but practical ways, and will be able to learn through shadowing doctors and nurses. Medical students are often given somewhat more responsibility, and may take a more active role in patient care (depending on experience).
We also welcome volunteers with professional qualifications and experience. We offer placements in a number of destinations where you will be able to put your training to the best use, through assisting in the treatment of patients and by sharing your knowledge and expertise with the local staff. Please get in touch with us directly to discuss the options.

I did the project in Nepal and definitely had great time. Discovering a country that is so different from mine taught me a lot. I've seen things I would never be able to experience anywhere else. Both hospital staff and other volunteers made that trip an unforgettable one. I highly recommend Projects Abroad and hope to go somewhere with them again.
Work days were well organized and we always had a coordinator with us. All of our patients were very pleased of our help. It was so nice to see how grateful people were for our help. The apartment I stayed was nice and clean. The food was amazing and all the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I went to volunteer in Togo and would recommend this type of trip for anyone looking to volunteer and do something similar. The price is reasonable for the experience you get (travel insurance, food, accommodations, airport transfers, 24/7 support).
