Situated 1,000 Km off the Ecuadorian Pacific coast, the Galapagos Islands are home to many endemic species of flora and fauna. The islands are famous for the uniquely evolved wildlife that helped Charles Darwin to formulate his theory of evolution.

The overall aim of our project is to contribute to the conservation and preservation of these unique terrestrial and marine ecosystems through much needed research and practical hands-on work.

Volunteers on this project will live in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal. The work carried out is a combination of observational surveys and hands-on tasks, including:

  • Assisting at the giant tortoise breeding centre
  • Galapagos Petrel protection
  • Sea lion monitoring
  • Invasive plant control
  • Beach clean-ups
  • Bird surveys
  • Environmental education
