Gapforce caters for even the most discerning travellers. We also offer an array of intense training programmes for divers, skiers and wannabe expedition leaders.

Passionate adventurer, Marcus Watts, founded Greenforce first. Back in the day, many people were exploring the world but following the same guidebooks, visiting the same places and usually meeting the same type of people. He wanted to open more doors to young people and help them to travel to more unique destinations, submerse themselves in local culture and come home with more unique stories to tell.

The first project Marcus launched was to help a desperate community on the Uganda/Congo boarder to implement a full conservation plan for a threatened nature reserve. To start, Marcus had just two volunteers working alongside three scientists. The support they provided though proved invaluable and there was a surge in UK volunteers wanting to spend time on the project. In three years, Greenforce had completed an entire biodiversity survey, helped implement the first sustainable management plan and created a Warden Training Programme.

Now more than 20 years later and operating in more than 17 countries globally, Gapforce sends away thousands of adventure hungry travellers every year - all of which return home with their own very personal and different stories.

A gap year fills the gap between education and experience. Either between school and university, university and your first job or between one job and the next, it can last from one week to one year. Whatever the gap, Gaporce can help you fill it.
