You could:

  • Help at a health centre to help meet the medical needs of the local community (e.g. helping to initiate empowerment programs which aims to include the local community in the day-to-day activities of a medical centre, undertaking medical work such as registering patients, observation and noting the progress of every patient, cleaning the hospital, awareness creation in the community about public health and sanitation).
  • Manual work projects are available (e.g. agricultural work, tree-planting, construction and refurbishment work), running intercultural activities and teaching in local community centres and at schools, social work (e.g. working as a guide/councillor with orphans in orphanages, engaging in field visits in order to promote HIV/AIDS programmes, participating in home visits to enhance intercultural education and solidarity etc.);
  • Peace building and reconciliation activities (e.g. exchanging ideas with the host communities about peace-building and reconciliation strategies / engaging in dialogue on poverty –reduction and “volunteering” as a tool to enhance “connectivity”.
