We don't underestimate people. We encourage people with disabilities to challenge what they expect from life, from themselves and from wider society.

The people we support overcome huge barriers to achieve exciting new things every day: some big, some small, all extraordinary. They challenge us all to rethink disability.

We provide extraordinary support and champion better eye care for people with learning disabilities and autism, many of whom have sight loss.

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK and has pioneered specialist support for over 200 years.

Help us rethink disability.

Volunteer and make a real difference

Volunteering your time, skills, commitment and friendship can be life-changing. Like you, people we support want to get the most out of life. Volunteering enables people to connect and participate in their community, try new things, and makes inclusion a reality for many more people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss.

You could be key to transforming someone’s day, and it’s incredibly rewarding for you too. Our volunteers enjoy meeting up with people for a chat, going for coffee (or a beer), watching football, fishing, sharing enjoyment of music or books, or group activities such as arts and crafts, drama and keep fit. The potential options for volunteering are huge.

There are volunteering opportunities at a wide range of locations. Volunteers support our services in Devon, East Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Somerset, and Surrey.

Once you start, our dedicated Volunteer Co-ordinators will welcome you, make sure you understand everything you need know about your new role and give you training and ongoing support.
