Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center

General Info

The center is located in the eastern part of the central province of Cameroon and gives shelter to 38 chimpanzees between 5 months and 44 years.

All the chimpanzees at the center are victims of the bushmeat trade.Their mothers were killed by hunters, in front of their eyes as they thought they were safe in her arms. Some babies arrived badly wounded. The Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center tries to give them a life as natural as possible, in social groups in enclosed forested areas.
