Since its infancy in 1994, Kangaroos has developed its diverse range of activities through consultation with our young members and their families. We take a person centered approach offering activities, which as well as being enjoyable, seek to improve and enhance the lives of our members.

Families also benefit by having a well-earned break knowing that their  young person is being well cared for. We run a range of different clubs for specific ages groups and activities are run from a range of local community centres as well as trips out to many exciting and fun venues.

Volunteering

Our volunteers are very important to us. In 2012 we were one of only two voluntary organisations in West Sussex to be presented with The Queens Jubilee Award for Voluntary Services the highest honour available to a voluntary group.

We have a great team of regular volunteers who support our children and young people but we are always looking for more. If you are enthusiastic, reliable, have lots of initiative and enjoy being with children or young people then we would welcome you on board.

Most of our volunteers are 15/16 years old when they join us and attend local secondary schools and colleges although we do welcome help from older volunteers.

If you join us as a volunteer your role will be to support our children and young people to have fun.  Our groups visit many interesting places and do lots of exciting things which you will be a part of. We offer the children and young people we support the opportunity to try new things and continue activities that they love.

This is a good opportunity for our volunteers to gain valuable new skills and  training which you can use to further your career, and all of this experience can be used on your CV. You will automatically get a certificate once you have carried out 30, 60, and 100 hours of voluntary work.

We are able to write a reference for you, on your request.  We will offer you regular support and the chance to learn.
