Volunteers either take part in social development opportunities with a local NGO, or support the building of a community site. I am one of the trustees for Steps and we work closely with local Romanian NGOs to decide on our final project, which is project managed by the local organisation we have chosen, but funded and supported by Steps.

In the past projects have been an hospice for children with HIV/ Aids, an hostel for abandoned children and a community centre to re-intergrate Roma families with the wider community.

We pride ourselves on being completely transparent and completely not for profit. Volunteer costs typically average £400 for a week including flights, accommodation, food and drink and materials for the building work.
