Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology

At the Max Planck Institute in Bremen we investigate the smallest inhabitants of the ocean.

Who lives where? How do they function and how diverse are they? What's their role in the global biogeochemical cycles? What does it mean for our environment and climate? These and many other questions are in the focus of researchers from around the world, engineers, technicians and many more colleagues at our institute.
