Walden is a close-knit community of girls, ages 8 – 15. Campers return each summer for friendship, challenge and fun and participate in traditional overnight camp activities including wilderness trips, horseback riding, tennis, sailing and water skiing.

For 102 years, the Walden experience has been part of young girls’ lives as they acquire leadership skills and confidence to navigate their world.

Staff

Camp Walden is the perfect place to live a healthy lifestyle.  We offer an environment where staff can be active and fit.  At Walden there is plenty of fresh air, access to the outdoors, and you will be encouraged to enjoy life outdoors.

We will provide you with three meals a day with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian and nut-free food choices.  We will provide you with a supportive structure where you can learn new skills and be successful as a mentor and friend to our campers.  Finally we value the importance of sleep and time-off daily.

So who are the members of the Camp Walden Staff?  Our staff are at least 18 years old and have completed at least 1 year of college or university.  While the majority of our staff come from across the United States, we also hire staff from Australia, New Zealand and western Europe. All of our counselors are specialists in one or two of the activities we offer and have a demonstrated interest in working with children.

Female staff live in wooden cabins with the campers in groups of 8 – 12 girls; male staff live together in a dormitory setting. All staff members working in specialty areas are required to have current certifications. For example our waterfront staff have the required lifeguard and boating certifications; climbing wall staff have the required climbing certificates.
