The International School of Peace is located on the Greek island of Lesvos and is a collaborative partnership between the international volunteers and the refugee community.

It provides educational opportunities for hundreds of adults from the nearby camps, and was created as a direct response to the needs of the population (both adult and children) that it serves. This position of pedagogical trainer will work exclusively with the adult school.

Our core principle is that both the coordination of the school and the teaching are done by the members of the community itself, who are in turn empowered, upskilled, and supported by a small group of international volunteers. The majority of our teachers are recruited from the refugee camps and trained to conduct English language classes. Additionally, we supplement our teaching staff with one or two international volunteers with prior classroom experience.

The Adult School is operating under the joint guardianship of One Happy Family (https://ohf-lesvos.org), the largest community center on the island, and the International School of Peace (http://schoolofpeace.org.il), an educational institution for refugee children on Lesvos.

We currently offer adult English classes across five competency levels, as well as Greek and music lessons. There are two periods per day, each period is 75 minutes in length. Our students are all adult refugees whose English skills range from beginner to intermediate level, the majority of students are at the beginner level (A1, A2).
