Peru is the 19th largest country in the world with a population of approximately 28 million people, and is home to world famous tourist sites including Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and the Andes mountains. A beautiful country, it has some of the most spectacular and varied scenery in South America. The Peruvian Andes are arguably the most beautiful on the continent and the mountains are home to millions of highland Indians, who maintain a traditional way of life and speak the ancient tongue of Quechua.

Peru was originally home to one of the oldest civilisations in the world, the Norte Chico, as well as the Inca Empire. Although Peru has rich and plentiful natural resources and many great tourist sites, 43% of the population lives below the poverty line. Volunteer Projects in Peru are based in Cusco. Why not come to the beautiful country of Peru to explore the land of ancient civilizations and numerous World Heritage Sites.
