This placement offers the opportunity to help children with play, art activities, music and singing - depending on your specialities - as well as assisting with their general day-to-day lives. Central Thailand has multiple 'child care centres', most commonly found in nearby cities and factory areas.

The centres are typically attached to primary schools and run either by local government, temples, communities, or foundations. The child care centres provide services to low-income families (mostly factory workers) who cannot afford to hire nannies or send children to private nurseries. The children are dropped off by their parents on the way to work, and picked up at the end of the day.

Volunteers in this program work for approximately 6 hrs / day, 5 days a week. The projects are located in both the Bangkok suburbs as well as in Ayutthaya, the ancient capital city and World Heritage Site. You can easily travel from Ayutthaya to the Bangkok city centre by train or bus, or a 45 minute minivan journey.

Program Requirements

You must be 17 years or older at the beginning of the programme. Volunteers will need enthusiasm, a positive attitude and be open to working in new and different environments. Be prepared to make a difference!
