What volunteer work in Uganda can I do?

We’re looking for volunteers in Uganda who will contribute to projects in communities where help is most needed.

At a one-to-one Uganda orientation interview we’ll discuss your skills, experience and of course, preferences to ensure that you’re assigned to the right project.

Volunteers in Uganda are needed in a variety of project areas, including but not limited to childcare, administration tasks, community development assistants, environment conservation, sports coaching, English teaching and so much more

How long can I come for?

Our volunteer placements last either one month or 3 months and include a one-day arrival orientation. But you can come for as short as one week or two weeks.

You’ll have the chance to travel at weekends but to make the most of this fantastic country why not leave some time at the end of your program to explore the best Uganda offers.

Where will I be working?

Our Ugandan projects are based in Nakisunga subcounty, Mukono district. The majority of our volunteers are placed in rural areas of Nakisunga subcounty although projects do also exist in other parts of the district.

Who will I be working with?

We place volunteers in existing projects, working alongside local people. Our volunteer work in Uganda is essentially designed to provide independent experiences which promote integration with the local people. You may also be working alongside another international volunteer.

Where will I be living?

All volunteers working with Sekirime Foundation will stay at our Jashina Guest House in Nangwa village, Mukono District. The facility offers comfortable accommodation, in private self-contained rooms. Meals are served at restaurant at a small fee. Laundry services are also offered at the guesthouse over the weekend at a small fee.  Volunteers living at our guesthouse get the opportunity to become fully immersed into the local culture. Our team will welcome you into the community and help you to settle into the local area. You might be living with another volunteer.

The guest house has running water and constant source of electricity. Enjoying professionally prepared local dishes, sharing stories and life experiences and learning the local language will give you a unique and memorable experience.

How much does it cost?

A volunteer placement booking fee of USD$110 is required to confirm your stay and participation in the program. USD$10 per day is paid to cover up your meals (the total amount will be calculated according to your total days of stay). Bed is offered for free by Sekirime Foundation.

What support is offered?

The Sekirime Foundation offers accommodation, 3 meals daily, water for domestic use (not for drinking), Electricity (for your gadgets), community tour and orientation.
