Honest Company, Beyond Lovely Students

Originally, I thought I would be coming to China for 1-2 years, and go home with a photo feed full of memories. I am now in my 3rd year, and looking at selling my car back home because I love this country. EF was a company that promised me things such as: performance bonus, contract completion bonus, teacher rotation availability (to experience multiple cities in China) and a vibrant atmosphere to work in. They have more than held up their end of the bargain. I have worked for other companies that certain things become "forgotten", but at EF, this is not an issue.

I taught English in the adult school for my first 2 years before moving into a role more suitable for my future interests. In the adult school, I learned so much from students who wanted to talk as much as possible. At EF, the students are not bored, they are engaged. Coming to work was a pleasure. My days off were Monday and Tuesday which was perfect for traveling (not as crowded). I would hop a train/bus to a new city, stay in a hostel for around 30rmb ($4.6), eat the local (or western) food, use tripadvisor for suggestions on what to see, meet people and have a few drinks. The next day I would visit anything I missed and be back home by night. It was cheap, a nice break from "normal life" and made everything more exciting.

Before coming to China, I had no knowledge of this industry, but now I can't believe I didn't try it sooner.

*Things change at the drop of a hat. This is sometimes the country and sometimes the company. It is a great lesson in being flexible. It can be a little frustrating, but that is when you know you are due for a good weekend trip.

*I am able to send 1/2 my pay home every month, and still not worry about money.
*I can experience life
