Our mission is to provide access to quality healthcare to families; and kind, hygienic and culturally appropriate childbirth to traditionally under-represented populations. We are devoted to working in partnership with people to improve the quality of life and to build peace - one mother, one child, one family at a time.

In less than two decade, Bumi Sehat Foundation International has come a long way since our infant beginnings. Today, we have established two, fully-functioning birth and health clinics in Indonesia, employ 30 permanent staff, see more than 17,000 individual patients annually, and welcome more than 600 new lives into the world each year. And this is just the beginning.

There are a variety of ways that you can get involved as an individual or a group to help improve the quality of life for traditionally underserved communities.

Volunteer

Bumi Sehat has been fortunate to receive — from caring people all over the world — generous offers to volunteer their time and services. We greatly appreciate these offers, but the reality is that we can only accommodate a small number of on-site volunteers.

We are currently seeking flexible, encouraging, and lighthearted volunteers who are excited about working with local Balinese youth and making a difference during their stay in Bali.  Youth center volunteers will not be involved with the birth center.

Bumi Sehat's Youth Center offers free conversational English classes to local school children aged 10 + through an after-school program.  As a volunteer English teacher, you will be teaching students who are eager to learn and succeed. With the help of our Balinese teacher aides, you will have the opportunity to assist these students in gaining valuable skills that will boost their confidence and enhance their ability to find good jobs after they graduate from school.

Our fee is $550. (US/AUD) per 4-week period.  This helps us cover program and housing costs.

Our volunteer requirements:

  • Must be 18+ years to apply
  • 4 week minimum commitment, longer stays are encouraged
  • No teaching experience necessary

What is included:

  • Accommodation at our volunteer ashram.
