All Hands Volunteers is a volunteer-powered disaster relief organization dedicated to Rebuilding Hope for people impacted by natural disasters all over the world.
Over the last 12 years, we have enabled over 39,000 volunteers to donate 200,000 days impacting 500,000 people worldwide.
All Hands Volunteers is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters by engaging and leveraging volunteers, partner organizations and local communities. Our vision is to demonstrate the power and value of volunteer service through the tangible work done, the hope it brings to suffering communities and the transformative experiences it provides for volunteers.
All Hands Volunteers strongly believes in the untapped power of the individual when driven by a desire to make a difference. While some relief organizations utilize volunteers, more often than not they only engage pre-trained volunteers or those from their existing networks or memberships, while others charge a fee for volunteering. All Hands takes a unique approach and accepts spontaneous volunteers from any background or faith, providing on-the-job training free of charge. This broadens our capability to help those in distress, offers a transformative experience to those who serve with us, and brings a wider pool of skills to the relief effort.
I have volunteered with AHAH on three of their projects so far: Nepal 2015, Florida Keys 2017 and Texas 2018. They are a very well organised, transparent and hands on NGO that offer a unique and efficient way of helping local communities. The staff is always wonderful and the community is incredible: a real worldwide family where whoever isn't made for that kind of life or environment simply exits it if s/he has to, leaving a group of super motivated individuals that work hard and engage authentically with each other and the local people. I keep coming back and I consider them close friends!
It's hard work, but the satisfaction from it is beyond magical. Love everything about it.
This organization is a great opportunity to help people after a disaster. I actually went through Hurricanes Irma and Maria on Saint Thomas and withing two weeks I was working with this organization to clear homes and yards of debris. I worked over two months with All Hands and Hearts and it is a time that I will always remember fondly. It allowed me to not only help people but to meet a large diverse of people from all over the world at the same time. If you want to help people I highly recommend doing it through this organization.
I first worked alongside All Hands in Tennessee during a wildfire deployment while working in AmeriCorps NCCC. I immediately fell in love with the organization's vibes and was very grateful of how much time they took to make sure we were trained and comfortable. After my term with AmeriCorps ended, I took a break but when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas (home state) I knew I had to do something. All Hands is such a wonderful organization to volunteer and work for. The transparency of the organization among volunteers, on-program staff, home office staff, beneficiaries, partners and donors is something I appreciate. I have volunteered with All Hands in Houston, Texas and the US Virgin Islands St. Thomas and I worked 5 months with them in Puerto Rico.
Without a doubt the most amazing and rewarding experience of my life. I volunteered in Nepal. All hands and hearts are so connected to the community there that you can see how positively they are impacting the locals lives. The staff, the locals and the fellow volunteers were so friendly, welcoming and helpful that the place just felt like home. I would highly recommend to everyone to be part of this amazing cause.
