Why Choose Leogang

The skiing and snowboarding scene is something that year on year is becoming a bigger industry and all the more fun.

I’ve had the luck of snowboarding down some of the beautiful mountains of Morzine/Avoriaz and Aviemore, and last March, I also ventured to the hidden gem of Leogang, a small town in the skiing region of Salzberg, Austria.

Leogang is one of the smaller less popular destinations in the Alps, but still offers the best of both worlds; an untouched traditional Austrian town with the life and soul that any happenin’ ski resort could offer. The prices are cheaper here than in other winter ski destinations in Europe in terms of skiing, accommodation, food, drink and going out.

Ski Slopes in Leogang

Leogang has easy access to the highly rated Skicircus and the resorts of Saalbach and Fieberbrunn.

Best Places to Eat in Leogang

Die Alte Schmiede, a rustic Austrian restaurant at the top of mountain was the most popular pit stop, and with their habitual onion and bacon soup, hot chocolate and endless shots of rum, it was the perfect belly warmer.

This quaint restaurant was the hub for all local events, with their weekly fire & ice shows, and late night parties; it brings the nightlife to the charming little town.

What Makes Leogang Special

Like any snowboarding destination, the vibe to the place is infectious, and no matter where you venture for a snow holiday, that’s something that won’t ever change. There’s something about a trip to Leogang that is just pure bliss.

Whether it is staying in the cosy wooden chalets, making fires, and a hearty dinner together with all your family, there really is nothing more perfect. What’s more, a ski / snowboarding trip in Leogang is a perfect option for any type of holiday maker, and from sleigh rides with reindeer and spa treatments for those more indulgent, there is something for everyone.

So, to anyone, from pro skiiers and snowboarder to people that have never been before, keen for adventure and willing to take on a challenge and swap the beaches for the beautiful mountains of Leogang, you’ll never look back!

Nightlife

After a tiring day on the slopes, there’s nothing quite like dancing the night away in a snow igloo, sipping warm jäger tea (yes it was as disgusting as it sounds, but it did the job) and being entertained by the skilled boarders and skiers on the snow jumps.

Accommodation

Ski resorts have accommodations for everyone. For example, in the French Alps, you have incredible chalets to rent in places like Megeve, Courchevel, Chamonix, Verbier. And about places to stay in Megeve, there are lots of budget and very luxurious hotels and rentals available.

In Leogang, you also have quality accommodations to spend an unforgettable ski holida. Hotels, apartments and chalets are all very modern. In addition to that, you can choose between:

  • Ski-in ski-out accommodation: they are the most popular and some of them are located less than 500 meters from the ski areas.
  • Accommodation away from the slopes: here you also have several accommodation options. However, before you choose your chalet or apartment, check if a shuttle bus can take you quickly to a resort and to the lifts.

Most of the accommodations in this town provide a certain level of comfort. For example, they are very well equipped (television, WiFi, books, popular board games and other leisure facilities).  Some also offer relaxation activities such as saunas.

Don't hesitate to book a ski hoiday to Leogang. Although one of the lesser-known winter resorts, it really is one of the most affordabe and there are slopes for all levels.
