Cameroon: Wildlife Volunteer Projects in Africa

Volunteer with animals in Africa. 2011 is a very special year for Ape Action Africa - it’s our 15th birthday! We’ve come a long way since we began life as Cameroon Wildlife AidFund (CWAF), focussed on improving the lives of the primates at Mvog Betsi Zoo in the capital,Yaounde. Before long we were taking in primates from all over the country - orphans of the illegal bushmeat and pet trades.

Cameroon: Primate Volunteer Projects Africa

Volunteer work with primates - Two of Ape Action Africa's primates received a very special visitor recently - British Neurophysiotherapist Kirsty Godwin-Pearson. At home, Kirsty treats people with neurological conditions, using physiotherapy to aid their recovery and help them regain function. She travelled to Cameroon to work closely with Samburu, a young chimp left paralysed by meningitis and Maggie, a mandrill who suffers severe fits.

Conservation Programs in Cameroon, Africa

Volunteer in Africa to help conservation efforts in Cameroon. Every year, we lose an area of tropical rain forest equal to the size of England. And every lost acre is home to a variety of plants and animals. The main cause of deforestation is human activity. Loggers extract more trees than the forest can reproduce, destroying ecosystems and they build roads into the heart of the forest. The destruction of tropical forests means that many species, including chimps and gorillas, are on the brink of extinction.

Charity Travel: Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund – CWAF and Ape Action Africa

Volunteer and help save preserve primates in Africa! CWAF was established in 1996 as a UK charity and its primary objective was to improve living conditions for prrimates housed at Mvog Betsi Zoo in Yaounde, Cameroon. During 12 years of operation, CWAF expanded its mission significantly to provide sanctuary for wild orphans of the illegal bushmeat and pet trades in Cameroon.
