Turtle Foundation was founded by a small group of dedicated private individuals with the common aim of preventing endangered sea turtles from becoming extinct.

We are an international charitable organization. We are a dedicated volunteer effort and currently are operating our own important protection projects in Cape Verde and in Indonesia. At most 8% of its total expenses are used for administration.

If you are looking for an exciting new experience, would like to live abroad and really help animal conservation efforts then thinking about applying to join programs in Boavista, Cape Verde. If you haven't heard about The Turtle Foundation before, we are an international charitable organisation which run sea turtle conservation projects in Africa - Cape Verde and South-East Asia - Indonesia.

If you are highly motivated and have a desire to do good then thinking about volunteering with The Turtle Foundation. All nationalities can apply so whether you are a student or just looking to take a holiday with a difference then these programs will be perfect.

There are internships and volunteer positions available and most positions are available from June to December every year. These volunteer programs with sea turtles are operated to help protect eggs and the nesting sea turtles from poachers and other hazards. You will be able to work with local staff and other international volunteers and you will be able to really experience the culture and atmosphere of this paradise islands.

One of the best experiences of my life!

I stayed 3 weeks in Boa Esperança camp in Boa Vista with 2 friends that travelled with me and, overall, our experience was very positive! Everyone, from the local staff to the other volunteers was always very nice and helpful. We got to watch turtles nesting every night and helped with tasks like counting and relocating eggs, tagging and measuring turtles, marking down the location of every nest that we found and helping the baby turtles return to the sea.

During the day, we could swim in the ocean (the water is warm!) or sometimes go to Sal Rei (the capital of the island), usually by taxi. One of the downsides I would say is all the free time we had because we only worked at night and during the day we didn't have much to do. I would definitely recommend other people to volunteer for the turtle foundation! It was an amazing adventure working in such a different environment and making lots of new friends :)

It was one of my favourite experiences :) amazing place, beautiful people and very good team work. It's a hard job to do! You go really out of the box and is necessery give your body, mind and heart. But is absolutely worthly! For the sea turtles and also environment! Turtle foundation, I am very grateful for the opportunity. Hope more and more people join you in 💖 I hope to come back and give more time to help you.
