La Senda Verde Wildlife Sanctuary & Eco Lodge is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of rescued Native Bolivian Wildlife, providing them with medical attention, food and housing.

Vicky and Marcelo Ossio, cofounders of LSV are impassioned conservationists that have always loved and minded about animals. They are truly devoted, compassionate and proactive activists whose main interest is the well-being of animals. They think that animals have rich personal lives and can help us learn about our place in this complex and inspiring world, and respect all living beings. Committed to conservation and education, V and M dedicate their lives to the animals that arrive at the refuge, loving and caring them.

For La Senda Verde, the help of Volunteers is extremely valuable to keep it running at an optimal level. Whether you can stay 2 weeks or 2 months, you will be welcomed. This is a fantastic opportunity to make friends from all over the world and from all walks of life!

It is always a bonus for the refuge if you have any specific skills to offer in the field of Veterinary, IT, Carpentry or any other area you think may be applicable.

Fantastic

Having a background working with animals in conservation and education I was delighted to have the opportunity to volunteer at LSV. Vicky and Marcelo became part of my family and the work they do is just incredible! You will have the opportunity to have close contact with lots of animals as you tend to their husbandry needs but it’s good to remember it is not a place to go if you want to pet animals all day every day. It is all about getting stuck in and caring for them. You have the opportunity to work with a variety of species and the more hard work you are willing to put in the more you will get out of it. I came to LSV with a presenting background and Vicky and Marcelo loved working with me to create some videos to enhance their sanctuary’s social media content. Don’t be shy to step forward with your extra special skills and ideas, they love hearing and implementing new ideas. This is the perfect place to go if you want to make a difference. You can educate visitors on the wildlife trafficking trade and give the animals in LSV’s care the opportunity to live a happier life. You will be immersed in the jungle and I honestly can’t wait to go back. Vicky and Marcelo really do restore your faith in humans with their unbelievable kindness, love and humility for the animals, staff and volunteers. If you want to volunteer anywhere, La Senda Verde is the place to go!

Incredible Volunteer Experience!

La Senda Verde is a place I would recommend to anyone interested in working closely with wildlife and learning more about conservation. My favorite part about the sanctuary is that there’s a human enclosure, so that there is more space for the animals to roam. La Senda Verde is doing amazing work caring for these animals that were victims of trafficking, poaching, and habitat loss as well as educating the public about important conservation efforts to help promote positive change.

Highlight of my South America Trip no doubt!!!

My partner and I spent about a month volunteering at La Senda Verde and were absolutely humbled by the animal interactions we had. Such an amazing place, I will recommend staying as a volunteer to anyone!!!

Would recommend La Senda Verde in a heart beat!

I stayed one night at Senda Verde, I was able to talk to some volunteers and employees... everyone is so committed to the animals! They are the first, second and third priority here. They are treated so good, they are so well taken care of that it is completely worth it being caged... yes, humans are caged and it’s wonderful to see animals monkeying around happy.

Amazing experience!

The wildlife sanctuary was one of the highlights of my trip to Bolivia. It was so amazing how the animals were cared for and protected, and having the experience to interact with them in such close proximity was so cool! We need more sanctuaries like this and I can’t recommed a visit and/or contribution highly enough.
