Humanitarian Refugee Volunteer Work in Africa

Humanitarian Refugee Volunteer Work in Africa

Projects Abroad volunteers are helping refugees from the Ivory Coast who have fled to neighbouring Ghana. Projects Abroad offer medical outreach voluntary work in Ghana and you can get involved to help Ivorian Refugees in Ghana, West Africa. Over 2000 refugees have been registered in the Western Region of Ghana in the past month. However, up to 20,000 more are expected to arrive as the political crisis worsens in the Ivory Coast.

Medical volunteers will be providing medical outreach services like helping children with infected wounds and insect bites, plus ensuring that anyone with a more severe medical condition is referred for treatment. Teaching volunteers will provide children for whom no schooling is currently available with classes in French and English. A care programme will also be offered with sports and educational games for the older children and some extra care and attention for the younger kids.

Projects Abroad volunteers in Ghana previously helped out at a Liberian refugee camp for several years following the Liberian civil war.
