Patagonia Adventure Tours South America
Patagonia is an adventure lover's paradise at the southern-most tip of South America. Mountains and sea come together like in no other place in the America's, in what is often described as a place of extremes at the uttermost ends of the earth. Powerful glaciers shape the landscape while the towering peaks of Torres del Paine National Park pierce the sky.
Our Patagonia Adventure has been designed for all levels of ability and will blow you away in true Grand American Adventures style! From the remote city of Ushuaia, travel through dense forests and glacier covered mountains to the arid and flat landscape of the Patagonian plateau. Torres del Paine, Mount Fitz Roy and the awesome Perito Moreno glacier in Los Glaciares National Park all await the intrepid explorer.
Patagonia Tour Highlights
- Tierra del Fuego Jointly owned by Chile and Argentina, much of this area's terrain is mountainous and partly forrested. Even at the height of the southern hemisphere's summer, permanent ice and snow cap the peaks. The sheltered harbour and former penal colony of Ushuaia, the most southerly town in the world, stands on the lower slopes of Cerro Martiál facing the Beagle Channel. Take the chairlift above the town to the Martiál Glacier or enjoy a cruise on the Beagle Channel to spot sea-lions, albatross and cormorant.
- Torres del Paine National Park Snow-capped mountains glisten on a distant horizon, the craggy peaks contrasting with the green pastures below and endowing Torres del Paine with a haunting beauty. This National Park, extends for over 2400km and was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978. The scenery is superb with a varied topography of green valleys, glacial lakes and vast ice fields, from which three massive granite columns rise impressively, their colours changing continually with the play of light.
- Fitz Roy, Mount Fitz Roy The tiny settlement of El Chaltén sits in a valley towards the northern extremity of the Parque Nacionál de Los Glaciares. Here, the loud cracking of ice falling from the face of the awesome Perito Moreno glacier is often heard. It looks and feels like a frontier town and is the gateway for exploring the magnificent peaks and glaciers of the Fitz Roy Range. The hike to Cerro Torre base camp, which affords exquisite views of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, is a once in a lifetime experience.
