More Information

The Surin Project is a non-profit community based, elephant welfare project, promoting responsible volunteer tourism to generate revenue for local communities working with captive Asian elephants.

The ultimate aimof this project is to empower and provide the local community with the tools to run an economically sustainable tourism project in an autonomous and self-governed manner, improving the living conditions of captive Asian elephants and increasing education within the local community.

This project will take another 5-10 years for it to be successfully run solely by the local community.

Logistical support in terms of irrigation and farming equipment is needed to grow more elephant food during the height of dry seasons and also funds to increase the enclosed areas in which the elephants can be released.
