Volunteer placements in the South Pacific: Fiji

Projects Abroad offer a range of volunteering opportunities as part of our Care and Teaching projects. On a Care placement you are most likely to find yourself working in an orphanage or a care home, supporting the staff there in whatever way you can. On a Teaching placement you will probably find yourself working in a school, teaching conversational English to a group of enthusiastic students, although if you have skils in other areas that you would like to teach, then do let us know when you apply, as this can often be accommodated.

The Projects-Abroad office in Fiji is located in the capital, Suva, on the island of Viti Levu. Volunteering placements are located here and in the surrounding area.

Travel & Tourism in the South Pacific

There is plenty of scope for visiting other parts of Fiji whilst you are on your project; weekend trips are regularly organised by Projects Abroad staff and volunteers to places like Vanua Levu – the other major island in the archipelago. Many volunteers also like to spend a period of time travelling further afield, either at the beginning or the end of their trip, and the South Pacific offers all manner of exotic destinations, such as Vanuatu to the west, Tonga and Samoa to the east and Tuvalu to the north. New Zealand and Australia are also reachable within a few hours, by aeroplane.
