Youth International

Youth International offers unique 3-month programs that combine rugged international travel, volunteer work in local communities, homestays with families in a variety of socio-economic settings, and exciting outdoor adventures.  Founded in 1997, Youth International is a trusted name in international experiential learning.

The goal of this experiential learning program is for team members to learn about the culture by living it themselves. Teams of up to 14 peers between the ages of 18 and 25 travel together with two group leaders. For a full 3-month semester, they explore three different countries in one region of the world.

Through a balanced combination of experiences, each Youth International team member is set up for an intense and dynamic first-hand education about the region in which they are traveling. At the same time, they are presented with a unique environment and opportunity for self-discovery.

Live with a tribal family in Nepal, help build a village school or orphanage, meditate with Tibetan monks, hike along ancient footpaths connecting remote tribal villages, learn to speak Spanish while living with local families, hike through the Peruvian Andes to Machu Picchu, explore the Taj Mahal, do conservation work in the rain forest, search for wildlife while sailing through the Galapagos Islands and much more...

In affiliation with Western State Colorado University, Youth International offers optional college credit courses designed to enhance the existing experiential learning program.  529 Savings Plan funds and AmeriCorps Education Awards may be used towards the course fee and the Youth International program fee.

Programs are offered in the Fall (September to December) and Spring (February to May).  The Asia program visits Nepal, India, and Thailand.  The South America program visits Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands.  All programs begin with a group orientation session at a camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
