This was one of the best experiences of my life! I was part of the Vets Go Wild Summer 2016 group. At the time I was studying Bioveterinary Science, wanting to apply for Veterinary Medicine so was trying to get a varied work experience portfolio for my application, which made this trip perfect! I was however the only student who was not studying to be a vet, meaning my knowledge and experience was slightly lacking compared. Despite this, the leaders allowed for this and let me get just as involved meaning I had a steep learning curve. We got to be involved in everything from giraffe capture to rhino dehorning operations. There was even a day where we got to fire a paintball gun from a helicopter! The staff running the programme are also some of the nicest and most passionate people you will ever meet, especially the inspiring Dr William Fowlds.
