White Shark & Marine Conservation Projects in South Africa

Volunteer in a marine project that is committed to researching the lifestyle and behavioural patterns of marine animals, whilst creating awareness of marine conservation within the local community and its tourists.

General Info

Famed for being the best place in the world to observe great white sharks, Gansbaai is ideal for volunteers wanting to immerse themselves in the challenging world of marine conservation whilst discovering the beauty of South Africa's Marine wildlife. In this fishing village located on South Africa's Garden Route, you will be required to analyse shark behaviour and their habitat, on top of educating the local community and its tourists on the importance of environmental conservation.

Using a boat or underwater cage, this programme allows you to watch and monitor Great White sharks in their natural environment and learn about coastal ecosystems and the work that is needed to preserve them.
