The charity brings opportunity, health and hope to disadvantaged areas and marginalized people in Peru and Tanzania, with a particular concern for vulnerable children and the health of village communities in remote locations.

We also have a global citizenship programme, encouraging young people to think about the wider world and how they can be responsible citizens on a local, national and international level. This is achieved through involving schools and youth groups in global citizenship workshops and two-week overseas trips to Tanzania and Peru.

We have three main streams to our volunteering work:

1. Medical and dental work aboard our 'Jubille Hope' and 'Amazon Hope' ships in Peru and Tanzania

2. Construction work parties, building indivudal family homes and larger children's centres for vulnerable communities in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania

3. School expeditions for secondary school pupils, helping on maintenance and work party projects in Peru and Tanzania.

All trips are 2 weeks long, offering volunteers the opportunity to make a real and signifcant difference to communities in a short timescale. We are very aware of the dangers of 'voluntourism' and work hard to ensure that our trips are ethical and put people at the centre of all we do.

Vine Trust’s vision and ethos is ‘connecting people to change lives’— not only the lives of the communities with which we partner overseas, but also the lives of the volunteers themselves. We recognise that we can’t do everything, but we can all do something, and encourage all our volunteers to make a difference on both an individual and corporate level.
