Urunji Child-Care Trust is a registered NGO in Malawi running several poverty alleviation programmes. Our work is focused on ending extreme poverty by working at grassroots level, employing sustainable methods and addressing the roots of extreme poverty.

Since 2006, Urunji has been running school feeding programmes, child sponsorship programmes and enhanced community participation through collaboration, skills-transfer and sustainable programmes.

We also run water and sanitation programmes. This includes drilling boreholes and providing handwashing facilities to rural communities. As at November 2015, Urunji Child-Care Trust provides over 60,000 free school meals every month.

Urunji is not an orphanage. Our programmes are geared towards sponsorship and integration to ensure children have a home. We build on the extended family setup that Africa and Malawi in particular enjoys to ensure children are not institutionalized.
