As our school is growing, we are recruiting new foreign teachers.

Qualifications

To work at Uncle Sam American School you must be a native speaker of English, and have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited academic institution
  • A valid passport from Ireland, the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa.

Application Procedure

If you considered a suitable candidate, you will be contacted to set up an interview.  If you currently reside in Taiwan, the interview can take place at our Sanxia location.  If you currently reside in another country, the interview can take place via Skype (voice chatting computer software).  During this interview, you will also be invited to ask questions about what the job is like, as well as life in Taiwan in general.

If you pass the first interview, you will be placed in a cue for the first available position that becomes available.  While the bulk of positions available are expected to be at our new school in Yingge, you may be considered for a position at one of our other locations as well (Banqiao or Sanxia, both located in New Taipei City).

Once a position becomes available, you will have a second interview with a supervisor from that specific branch.  Of course, at this time you may also ask more detailed questions about the specific position you’d be hired for.

If you pass the second interview, then you’d be offered employment with the school and you would sign a contract.

From there the details can differ depending on the branch you’re working at.  We can help you get to the school from the airport, find temporary accommodation for the first few days of your stay, and also help you find an apartment close to the school (if desired).  We also help you to obtain your ARC (Alien Residency Certificate), which is required to live and work legally in Taiwan.

If you have any questions about the hiring procedure, or even life in Taiwan in general, do not hesitate to contact us.  We are more than happy to be of assistance.
