Improve the livelihood of adolescents, youths and the elderly through reproductive health education, trainings, equipping each with a skill, awareness drives, multimedia communications and behavior change initiatives. Mission: Improve the livelihood of youths and the elderly in Uganda through capacity building, life skills, youth health empowerment initiatives, health education, youth networks, skilling programs, economic empowerment and social justice regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. Where We Are?

Two Hands One Life is currently operating in refugee (migrants) and fishing districts in Ngogwe and Ssi-Bukunja sub-counties. We have reached and;

  • held health talks and presentations in several primary, secondary and tertiary schools and fishing, refugee communities to sensitize communities on HIV/AIDS, SRH, child protection, and other primary health care issues concerning them.
  • mobilized and engaged fisher-folks for HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and treatment services, observe menstrual hygiene and sanitation practices, HIV and other disease prevention in Muyubwe, Muvvo and Ssenyi landing sites.
  • offered psychosocial and OVC support activities for children, young people and family members through ongoing behavioral and moral support; charity donations of clothing identified future OVC cases for education support and may be economic empowerment.

 

What We Do?

School and Community Health Outreaches:

Continuous knowledge and information talks, presentations, sessions in various schools and communities are a major intervention of THOL to sensitize communities for healthy practices and lifestyles. a) Topical sessions for our school and community outreaches are prepared and delivered by our A-teams aimed at providing factual and accurate information on;

  • Adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH)
  • Primary health care (PHC)
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
  • Infectious diseases (IDs)
  • Personal and Menstrual hygiene management
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Life-skills development, and so much more!!!!

More-so we conduct and support;
b) HCT campaigns in targeted populations: this includes HIV counseling and testing emphasizing HIV prevention for negatives as well as positives; stressing positive living on adherence, ART packages
c) Referrals and linkages for treatment and other services in different service centers.
d) Gender-based violence support for survivors
e) Mobile health and treatment clinics and fairs

 

Psychosocial support and care:

The psychosocial support healthcare program contributes to improvement of quality of life of our beneficiaries to increase their coping life’s health, social and economic adversities in the society such as illness, poverty, neglect, violations, abuses and lack of adult guidance. Our integrated psychosocial support activities include;

  • Supportive counseling for adherence, gender-based victims, GBV prevention
  • Spiritual and moral support for value addition
  • Behavioral change counseling for adolescents and adults alike
  • Individual and Peer Counseling & guidance
  • Community Social case work/ follow-ups

 

Links and referrals

Orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) support and care: HIV/AIDS illness, death, poverty, neglect and abuse are affecting children’s development and wellbeing. Thus the family and supportive fabric is breaking apart which would have offer a strong supportive and guiding environment to meet a range of children’s needs. We are building on the little available through; 

  • goodwill and charity donations of clothing, beddings, play materials, reading books, etc
  • school sponsorships of primary and secondary students
  • family visits for socialization to build resilience
  • fostering self-help support groups
  • initiating mentorship and welfare programs to lessen grief
  • responding to unique/special needs individuals 

 

Advocacy & Networking.

Engaging in cross cutting issues that involves participating and collaborating with other vibrant health service provision and promotion organizations, ministries and companies at regional, national and international level. 5. Implementation Research
