It aims to break down the barriers which prevent individuals and groups from engaging with others, encouraging volunteering and mutual support.

Toc H remains loyal to its founding values of mutual respect, sharing, understanding and empowering people to achieve their full potential. Based in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK, Toc H works alongside people at a local level to enable them to contribute and participate in community life.

Toc H operates numerous centres and projects throughout England and Wales working with people from all walks of life. Many of Toc H';s centres are based in ethnically diverse communities and its staff work alongside local people to provide the services and support they need.

Inner-city gardening projects encourage people to grow fresh fruit and vegetables, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses and family support groups encourage inclusion. All of Toc H';s community centres offer a wide range of activities such as drama, dance, social events and many have creche facilities and free internet access.

Toc H';s services also include youth mentoring, training and family support with particular focus on young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEETS). Its experienced youth workers help young people to make positive life choices and empower them to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

Many projects rely on people giving up some spare time to work with others and help to support them. Volunteering opportunities develop constantly and vary from a few hours on one day, to a week on holiday supporting needy groups.

Participation is a virtual online community based on Toc H's traditional values and offers communities the chance to work together as well as individuals the opportunity to participate and get involved.
