Mozambique is finally becoming a hot destination for the intrepid traveler. It is a wonderful country offering some of the most spectacular beaches and reefs in the world, yet both the pristine surroundings and the contented, humble attitude of its people are totally unspoilt by conventional tourism.

You will be based on the Mozambique shores of Lake Malawi at the award winning Nkwichi Safari Lodge, built on a 120,000 acre private concession hugging some of Lake Malawi’s wildest coast and pristine beaches. Be prepared to get some constructive and meaningful work done and then relax into the African pace of life, on secluded beaches lapped by famously clear, warm, pure water providing excellent snorkeling and diving with millions of brightly coloured tropical fish.

The lodge is a very stylish eco-lodge built in 2000 by Patrick Simkin and his partner Nadia who developed the Manda Wilderness Trust, which is responsible for developing the life changing community, and conservation projects that greatly need your help. Nkwichi lodge consists of individual and beautifully designed rustic chalets built by hand out of local materials, and sleep 2 comfortably. The rooms have great views of the lake and romantic showers and baths, with loos, open to the stars. This will be your base and where you can take respite from the heat on your veranda or head out snorkeling in the cool clear water.

On arrival Nadia and her team will talk to you about the camp, all the current projects and work out which you would prefer to get stuck into.

The projects are all over the reserve accessed by paddling down the lakes edge in a canoe or trekking through the bush. Some projects are far away and in those cases we recommend you camp close by for a few days. This particular mini Leap is unique in that the communities are the poorest we have ever been involved with. The projects are simple, yet life changing and your help will make a profound difference.
