We can assure you the Himalayas will not disappoint as they charge all your senses with their sheer magnificence. Venturing out with a team of Leapers deep into these great mountains to live amongst the local Almora community is an experience worth packing your backpack for.

Almora is a stunning village set in a verdant mountain valley at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is a spiritual place, popular with hippies – a trail blazed by Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan in the 60’s with many Buddhist shrines and monasteries open to all.

The foothills are a mass of terraced fields, interspersed with pine and vibrant rhododendron forests. It was the first British hill station in 1815 chosen because of it’s cool climate and exceptional views of Nanda Devi the highest peak of over 7000m. Further up the valley is a village called Leti which is popular for trekking and another community benefitting from our sustainable projects.

Overall you will be helping the local team from Shakti, a Himalayan travel company, with their client trekking itineraries and most importantly with helping them fulfil their local conservation and community initiatives, which are dramatically improving the local standard of living in the Almora and Leti communities.
